Record-breaking students of The Lawrence School with Amitabh Bachchan, Apoorva Lakhia and Bunty Walia
Students of The Lawrence School, Sanawar, which is the alma mater of Sanjay Dutt, Apoorva Lakhia and Bunty Walia amongst others in Bollywood, achieved a tremendousfeat when they became the youngest bunch to climb Mount Everest. Seven students of this school, that is based near Chandigarh and has the distinction of being one of Asia's oldest educational institutions, were the ones who managed this tough feat. And even they didn't foresee that their reward would be a felicitation at the hands of India's biggest cinema icon — Amitabh Bachchan.
On Sunday evening, the day when Big B grants an audience to hordes of fans, this bunch of students were given the additional honour of a personal audience with him. Not only didBachchan meet each of the kids really warmly, he also gifted thempersonalisedautographed copies of his book To Be Or Not To Be.
The students Fateh Singh Brar, Prithvi Singh Chahel, Ajay Sohal, Haqiqat Singh Garewal, Shubham Kaushik, Raghav Juneja and Gori Badet Singh were heard telling the actor that they took 60 days from Delhi and back for their expedition and the experiences they had.
Their base camp was Kumbu in Nepal and they spent eight months training for their adventure sport. In fact, the last phase of the climb took a non-stop 26 hours!
Director Apoorva Lakhia and producer Bunty Walia, both of whom are ex-students of The Lawrence School and both of whom are very close to Sanjay Dutt and Abhishek Bachchan, were the ones who managed to get the young achievers an audience with Mr B
