MUMBAI: A fresh face will soon be at the helm of Tata AutoComp Systems, the Tata Group's flagship auto component business, with the current managing director R S Thakur stepping down in September.

Next month Thakur turns 65, which is the retirement age for the company's executive directors, ending a 41-year run in one of India's oldest business empires. He will be replaced by Ajay Tandon, the Pune-based company's second-in-command.

Educated at IIM-Ahmedabad and IIT-Madras, Tandon, 54, has been with Tata AutoComp for more than six years and will also be joining the firm's board.
