GUWAHATI: Country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki on Sunday said it will expand its presence in rural and remote parts of north east as it expects "rapid growth" in this region over the next 3-4 years.
The company, which first opened its outlet in North East 30 years ago at a time of rolling out its first car in the country, currently sells an average of 3,000 vehicles every month in the region.
"North East market has always been very important for Maruti Suzuki...We believe that there is huge opportunity in rural areas of north east states, besides the major cities," Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Chief Operating Officer (Marketing and Sales) Mayank Pareek said.
