The BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) for the Android and iOS platform has got delayed.
LONDON: The BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) for the Android and iOS platform has reportedly got delayed because the makers have said that the app is not fully developed for the launch.
The BBM app for Android and iOS was supposed to be rolled out on September 21, however, the app didn't make it to the Google Play store. Later a leaked version of the app was available on the Google store which was downloaded by over 1.1 million users.
In a statement on its official BlackBerry Twitter account, the company said, "Our teams continue to work around the clock to bring BBM to Android and iPhone, but only when it's ready and we know it will live up to your expectations of BBM. We are pausing the global roll-out of BBM for Android and iPhone. Customers who have already downloaded BBM for iPhone will be able to continue to use BBM. The unreleased Android app will be disabled, and customers who downloaded it should visit www.BBM.com to register for updates on official BBM for Android availability." "As soon as we are able, we will begin a staggered country roll-out of BBM for Android and continue the roll-out of BBM for iPhone...." added the statement
The company confirmed that those who managed to download the iOS build will be able to continue using it but anyone with the leaked Android app will not.
The report added that the company did not announce the next date for the BBM launch on third-party phones.
