PC in 'hawaldar avtaar' - Lakhia’s fantasy
Priyanka Chopra and Ram Charan

Zanjeer's crew has been on a promotional blitz, and they stopped over in Delhi on Wednesday. A somewhat lukewarm reception owing to making the press wait for hours notwithstanding, it was clear that the questions were all going to be about filling Amitabh Bachchan's shoes, the film's copyright issues being solved and whether attempting the remake 'Zanjeer' was a good idea.

To the last question, the answer of the trio Priyanka Chopra, Ram Charan and Apoorva Lakhia was easy. They said, "This isn't a remake, because a remake of Zanjeer can never be made. This is a tribute." Some of the banter was about the imprisoned Sanjay Dutt, to which Lakhia said, "We couldn't show the film to him. It was edited after he went (to jail). But we showed him the songs, including his qawwalisong. Sanjay ne chalees saal ke baad qawwali ki hai, after Reshma Aur Shera."

When someone asked Charan, "Aapki Hindi aisi hai, toh aapne filmkaise kari", the other two jumped to his defence and said, "'aisi' matlab, kaisi hai bhai'? But Charan said, "Hindi utna problem nahi haiJitna aapko French aata hai, utna mujhe Hindi aati hai. Bol sakta hoon, samajh sakta hoon, ab thoda conscious hoon."

Priyanka, to a question saying, "Aapko uss gaane mein (the song Mumbai Ke Hero, where she's wearing a police uniform with shorts) itne chhoti dress pehen ke kuch laga nahi?" replied, "Aapko lagta hoga, baaki ladkon ko toh kuch nahi lagta!" And then she added, "Hawaldaar toh shorts pehente hain, main hawaldaar bani hoon! Anyway it was Apoorva's idea." And Apoorva added, "It was my fantasy!
