He is a great Feluda fan himself. And if all goes well, Shoojit Sircar will be remaking Satyajit Ray's iconic film, Sonar Kella, in Hindi. For the lovable Bengali sleuth, he has in mind none other than Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan.

Shoojit, who is in the process of procuring the rights of the movie, said, "Things will hopefully fall into place very soon. Sonar Kella is a cult film in Bengali and I want the story to reach out to a wider audience. I have grown up watching Ray classics, but I didn't want to touch his more serious films, which are difficult to adapt on screen." In Kolkata on a break, the director added that Aamir would be a perfect choice for the sleuth. Written by Ray, Feluda first made an appearance in Bengali childrens' magazine —Sandesh — in 1965. Accompanying him on his adventures are cousin Topshe and novelist Jatayu. Shoojit admitted that finding Jatayu — known for his comic timing — is no meant feat. "But it would be great telling the story to the national audience. Why deprive them from a Ray classic?" he told us.

The original Satyajit Ray classic starring Soumitra Chatterjee as the sleuth, bagged four National Awards in 1974.
