LONDON: India's Leander Paes and his Czech partner Radek Stepanek bowed out of the league stage of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, but not before sounding a warning. The US Open champions, the No. 7 team in the world, aim to play a full schedule next year and are looking to do some serious damage.
The Indo-Czech pairing needed the Spanish combine of David Marrero and Fernando Verdasco to win the final Group B clash of the championships in straight sets.
Marrero and Verdasco, however, lost to the second-seeded duo of Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares in a late-night clash on Friday thus ruling out Paes and Stepanek from the semifinal equation.
"We hope to play the full season next year," Paes said for the pairing that came into the season-ending tournament having played just seven tournaments together, "This year with Radek's injury and subsequent surgery we weren't able to play a full schedule, but that will change next year."
