MUMBAI: The BSE benchmark Sensex today surged by over 206 points in early trade on sustained buying by funds and retail investors triggered by a firming trend on other Asianbourses.
The 30-share index gained 206.05 points, or 1.06 per cent, to trade at 19,616.89, with all the sectoral indices led by FMCG, realty and metal rising up to 1.83 per cent. Sensex had gained 233.08 points yesterday.
The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty rose by 54.70 points, or 0.94 per cent, to trade higher to 5,891.65.
