KOZHIKODE: Revival plans for Steel Complex Limited (SCL), one of the major public sector industrial units in the district, are finally on track with the company managing to rake in necessary funds for the implementation of the much-delayed plans for setting up a Rs65-croresteel re-rolling mill.

Setting up a modern 65,000 tonne steel mill has been the pivot of the resuscitation package envisaged as part of the company's joint venture agreement with SAIL (Steel Authority of India Limited).

Kozhikode MP M K Raghavan told TOI that SCL will soon start work on the much anticipated steel mill project which will enable it to diversify its product line and foray into the finished steel product market, which will be vital for its survival.
