Chennai Express shows cancelled

Shah Rukh Khan's Chennai Express hit a minor roadblock as soon as it chugged into the city.

While most plexes recorded a good attendance, the shows at Vile Parle's Sun City were thrown off gear. The 6 pm show, a part of the paid preview, was cancelled and the audiences had to return home with refunds.

Apparently, the theatre had received a blank digital print of the film. The people in attendance, however, did not take to this kindly. A source told Mirror, "The audience started arguing with the officials as the show was getting delayed. As the situation was getting out of hand, the officials decided to call off the 6 pm show. This led to more chaos as the crowd mobbed the ticket counter for refunds."

Vidhi Thaker (19), who had gone to Sun City to watch the 7 pm show, told Mirror, "There was a huge ruckus. The people, who went for the 6 pm show, were made to wait till 6.40 pm and then told that there was no print."

The next show in line didn't have a smooth start either. Vidhi added: "I had to wait for half-anhour for the show to begin. They were showing advertisements and trailers on loop. It was quite exasperating."

Meanwhile...

Pakistan has not blacked out Chennai Express. In fact, the film, which was scheduled to release across the border on August 14, will release in Pakistan today. Leading distributor of the film in Pakistan, Amjad Rasheed, told Mirror: "Pakistani producers were keen that their films should be given preference over Chennai Express. However, most of these films, including Main Hoon Afridi, which has cricketer Shahid Afridi in a special appearance, have been postponed. Hence, we are releasing Chennai Express the same day it is hitting the theatres in India.
