Pouring palazzos
Pouring palazzos

An outing with pals or a romantic date, these lowers will see you through every occasion

Palazzos are the most comfortable trousers you ever wore. What's more, it even flatters you, no matter how out of shape you are. The breezy silhouette creates an illusion of a maxi skirt while keeping the freedom of pants intact. And they even make your legs look longer. Available in a variety of materials and prints, they are back being the most-sought after item in a girl's wardrobe. This elegant and feminine attire, because of its wide cut and light fabric, are just perfect for keeping you cool on a hot and humid day. And, the good news is, even petite women can sport the look without being lost in the flared cut that defines its shape. But you got to keep some golden rules in mind. The thumb rule being, 'think balance'.

"I've presented saris styled with palazzo pants, it makes a sari effortless to put on and carry, and stems from our hectic lives where there is always the fear of those pleats falling out as you get out of the car, despite the safety pin! Linen palazzos work as simple workwears for me and can even replace pajamas for bed!" — Kiran Uttam Ghosh

"From 50 inches to 30 inches, the width can be adjusted to suit the preference. Pair it with a tunic, kurta or even the long kurta with very long slits. They can be worn as formal wear, casual wear or lounge wear as well. You could go shopping or even do yoga wearing it. I have designed high-waisted palazzos. It grips at the stomach and makes you appear slimmer" — Jattinn Kochhar

"Palazzos are meant for all body types. Since they are wide at the hem, the upper body tends to look slimmer and attention is also drawn away from the waist. Wearing tops in similar colour tones also add length" — Abhishek Dutta

Follow the rules

-You can wear them with flats. But heels make the palazzos swirl and move in a way that makes you look like one glam diva.
-The wider the better. Palazzos look just perfect in any hem size but the ones grazing the floor adds oomph.
-If you are wearing them to office, the wide palazzos that is, pair it with a fitted top that you tuck in with a wide belt at the waist.
-If you are wearing floral prints, make sure you wear a solid-coloured top. -Miniature prints look best.
-Wear bright coloured ones with a feminine blouse for a tailored look. A camisole under a summer jacket looks good too.
-For a chic glamourous look, wear a tank top, blouse or corset top and let your pants bloom wide.
-Colour block if you want to make a style statement. Team with a contrasting top and accessories of contrasting colour.
-Pair it with a short top. A slim-fitting top will balance out the volume on the bottom half, and also make your waist look smaller.
-Go bold. Choose interesting wild prints, loud patterns and bright colours. But make sure you don't end up looking like a christmas tree.
-Choose the right accessory. Wedges/block heels will add height. A wide headband will add that oh-so-retro feel
