How you can prepare for labour
How you can prepare for labour

With people around the globe awaiting the birth of the royal baby in Britain, bets are at an all-time high about the date, time, sex and even the mode of delivery.

While thousands of women go into labour every single day, experts say that one of the most important things to remember for mothers-to-be is to have a positive attitude.

Although the internet offers a sea of information to pregnant women on what to expect and avoid, and there are tons of well-meaning friends and family members giving advise, most pregnant women are apprehensive about going into labour. One of the keys things women fear, say experts, is the negative experience they have heard about from other pregnant women. Here is what you should keep in mind:

- Anxiety simply results in poor labour progress, increased levels of panic and pain. It is important that you attend labour preparation classes and ask your gynaecologist all options for an easy labour.

- There are tons of books and websites, which give helpful information for all that you want to know about labour and pregnancy. Make use of this fact and read up.

- Maintain your weight and health while you're pregnant. Light exercise is recommended for most pregnant women. Check with your doctor what exercises you can do and which ones you should avoid. Practising labour breathing is also helpful.

- As you near your due date, keep your hospital bag and medical files ready. Also, keep a list of important numbers by your side in case you go into labour earlier than scheduled
